Chronic Pelvic Pain

  • Non-surgical.

Physical therapy, lifestyle modifications and mindfulness may provide improvements in pain scores and function depending upon your specific situation. Dr Baxter is a firm believer in a multi-disciplinary, multifaceted approach to pelvic pain.

  • Surgical.

Surgical management of chronic pelvic pain is complex and individualised. Depending upon your medical history and investigations surgery may be diagnostic or therapeutic. Surgery for pelvic pain includes procedures such as division of adhesions, treatment of endometriosis, removal of ovarian cysts and in some cases hysterectomy.

  • Treatment of neuropathic pain.

Many women with chronic pelvic pain will develop central or peripheral sensitisation. Similar to phantom limb syndrome even if the issue that originally caused pain resolves or is removed the pain will persist.

Dr Baxter has completed international training with the society for pelvic neurology and can assist you in trying to break the pain cycle.
